Overview
The Marangu Route, also known as the "Coca-Cola Route", is the oldest and most established route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It approaches the mountain from the southeast and is the only route that offers comfortable overnight stays in mountain huts rather than tents. The trail passes through lush rainforest, moorland with giant heather and lobelias, and finally the alpine desert zone before reaching Kibo Hut. While it is considered one of the easier routes in terms of terrain, it has a lower success rate due to its relatively fast ascent profile.
